...occasionally allowing players to plant REs in such a way that they're both invisible AND indestructible against normal weapons fire.
I shotgunned the entire area around an objective in a match I fought earlier today because I knew the person who I just killed it was running RE Scout. Didn't get any explosions, and couldn't see any REs to make me panic, so I thought I must have caught him before he set up.
Started hacking, exploded instantly. NOPE. There were still REs there. Except that THERE WEREN'T ANY BECAUSE I HAD CLEARED IT.
Dying to REs is fine when it's counterable. Not so fine when you do everything right and still get killed.
Later on, different map, had the same thing happen.
The Null Cannons where the cannon itself is also the hack point are the problem. It's happened on two different ones of those structures for me on two different maps.
Any word on a fix? Or another for the SOONGäó pile? |

Kira Takizawa wrote:Fluxes? Shotgun works fine on REs placed anywhere - ANYWHERE - except on those specific hack points where the console is on the side of the Null Cannon.
So does the ability to see REs because they're not meant to be invisible.
I don't know for sure if Fluxes work, but I know that when I threw a Locus Grenade at the objective, it bounced off the empty space I could walk through and landed at my feet instead of landing where I had aimed it. Even if Fluxes do work, that doesn't negate the fact that REs are meant to be visible if you're alert and looking for them, or the fact that REs are meant to be destroyed by ANY weapon fire, not just one specific item. |

Cyrius Li-Moody wrote:Why are you shotgunning an RE? BECAUSE. IT. WORKS. EVERYWHERE. ELSE.
Like I already said.
I can happily stand outside the blast radius and hit REs near indoor objectives, or detonate REs placed on roads as vehicle traps, or the ones placed on or near secondary objectives (CRUs, Depots, etc.) with a Shotgun. I can also detonate them while taking out Nanohives and other equipment that some players booby trap with REs.
It's an otherwise reliable method of clearing REs for me. I use SMGs as well, and they also work everywhere except that one type of objective. |

Any word on a fix? Or another for the SOONGäó pile? I don't think the REs are invisible, I think they are falling into the mesh of the Null Cannon. Sometimes you have to shoot at known places that Mercs put REs to make sure. Don't just rely on your eyes. The bits in bold are where I DID THAT ALREADY. |

the REs physical body is floating inthe air above the null cannon, but its explosion will still happen at ground level. While that doesn't negate the fact that REs on those particular objectives are definitely not working as intended, it might be helpful if it's true.
I'll have to give it a look sometime. |

What's so bad about it that makes you think it wouldn't work.
It's reliable if you're competent with the weapon. SMGs and other weapons also work. Except that none of them work on the specific situation I've described, in which the REs are immune to damage. |

Ghosts Chance wrote:they arnt actually invisable or invulnerable, they are floating about 15-20m in the air attached to nothing but still explode at ground level.
its a glitch that happens when you attach the REs to certain spots.
fluxing the objective doesnt get rid of it becuase its physical body is well out of the esxplosion radius Hence why I included the "when aiming where the RE was actually placed" part of my post...
Michael-J-Fox Richards wrote:its perposterously stupid, it really is, nobody is saying that shotguns dont blow up RE's if you shoot them, you can blow up RE's by shooting at them with any weapon but dropping one single flux grenade on it works infinitely better, and then for you to be mad enough about it to make a forum post, get real Show me the suit that can use both Flux Grenades AND Locus Grenades, and I'll start using that instead of a Scout.
Show me the suit that can use Flux Grenades without wasting SP that I already invested on things I care to use (which includes Shotguns).
Show me the Flux Grenade that doesn't rebound from the gap where the objective can be accessed like every other Grenade in the game (including other Flux Grenades because apparently yours is a magical Flux Grenade).
And when you're done realising you can't do any of those things, explain to me again why using a Shotgun is a bad idea WHEN FLUX GRENADES AREN'T AN OPTION.
If anything is preposterously stupid here, it's not me or my use of a Shotgun for something I can normally find it to be quite good at. |

Garrett Blacknova wrote:BECAUSE. IT. WORKS. The only place it doesn't work is on a single objective model where the REs don't appear where they're placed, and can't be destroyed by shooting at where they were placed. |

Bojo The Mighty wrote:Well if you know that people are abusing the Null Cannon upwards slide glitch then why don't you try shooting them up there? If you look back in the thread, you'll notice that I DIDN'T know that was how the glitch worked and that there was an option to shoot the REs in a completely different spot to where the explosion happens.
If I had, the thread would have been complaining about the fact that REs appear in a completely different spot to where they're placed and the spot you have to shoot being completely different to where they explode.
It's still a problem, but it's a different problem to the one I had initially believed when I first posted it. |

medomai grey wrote:I don't think randomly firing shotgun rounds over a surface area is the best way to clear out remotes. Just saying. I had a Shotgun and a single Locus Grenade on the fitting I was using. Tell me a better option that I actually had available to me. And at the kind of range you want to be when detonating REs, Shotgun spread covers a wide enough area to be more efficient clearing a space than other weapons, while remaining tight enough not to miss any spots.
Also, when REs are ACTUALLY VISIBLE WHERE THEY'RE PLACED LIKE THEY SHOULD BE (and like they are everywhere except for one specific structure), you don't have to "randomly fire over a surface" because you can easily SEE THEM and AIM FOR THEM because they're visible. |
